Artist Biography

Butch Anthony is a self-taught artist and maker from Seale, Alabama, USA. He is an artist not easily defined, who collects bizarre objects and transforms them into strangely beautiful art for one of America’s favourite roadside attractions, his “Museum of Wonder”.
His hand-built home was featured in the NY Times, and is built from stones and the timber of an old cotton mill, elegantly decorated with Anthony’s own artworks.
Anthony has developed his own genre of work called Intertwangelism – an ism of his own creation, which can be seen in his highly collectable skeletonised portraits. He has had solo exhibitions in both the USA an London.
“I just get up early in the morning and start making stuff, and one thing leads to another. I usually get distracted…’chasing butterflies’ I call it.
It’s sort of my philosophy is just do whatever comes up. “
Quote by Butch Anthony in an interview with Anne Kristoff for Alabama Newscenter Community.
