Description
This is a gorgeous and sensuous print form Charmaine Olivia. A very early piece ‘Sculpting Grace’ foretells of a new direction Charmaine would paint and the colours she would bring.
“With each painting, I am learning. I am finding that painting has little to do with your hands, but with your eyes. I am learning to see objects as shapes. I now see a hand as a collection of colors- and arms as angles. It is fascinating to watch a seemingly abstract shapes of colors work together to form a whole image. To me, it feels like sculpting. Molding and shaping the colors with my brush. Up close, it almost feels haphazard and frantic. But from a distance, it all comes together with seemingly careless grace. Even the way she’s clutching her hair feels like she’s sculpting right along with me.”– Charmaine Olivia (Sept 2012)
